Saltmarsh House

An atmospheric, editorial site for a family-run guesthouse that sends guests to book direct and away from commission-heavy booking platforms.

The brief

Guesthouses in the West of Ireland compete on atmosphere, and guests often find them through booking platforms that take a cut of every stay. A good website gives guests a reason to book direct.

This concept leans into editorial design: a warm, paper-like palette, a serif headline and generous space for photography of rooms, breakfast and the view.

Design decisions

  • Book direct, everywhere. A persistent button links to the guesthouse’s own booking system.
  • Sell the place, not just the room. An “Explore” page covers the Great Western Greenway, Croagh Patrick and the islands of Clew Bay.
  • Built for photography. Large image areas that real photos of the property would drop straight into.

What this would cost

With seven pages, a gallery and content help, this concept fits the Premium package.

Goals

  • Encourage direct bookings to reduce platform commission
  • Sell the location: the Wild Atlantic Way, the Greenway, Croagh Patrick
  • Feel warm and personal, not like a chain hotel

Key features

  • Room pages with photo galleries and clear inclusions
  • “Book direct” button linking to the guesthouse’s booking system
  • Local guide page for walks, cycling and food nearby
  • Getting-here page with maps from Knock Airport and Westport
